Payroll professionals APS6 and APS4 – Service Delivery Office

The Service Delivery Office (SDO) within the Department of Finance is looking for experienced Payroll professionals at the APS 6 and APS 4 levels to join our team.  The Payroll Team manages the pay and conditions of 11 clients to enable them to increase productivity and concentrate on their core business. We are responsible for the management and administration of all payroll systems and processes associated with human resources data and reporting. We are committed to consistently improving service standards through innovation, systems, and process enhancements

As the APS 6 Team Leader you will lead a small team responsible for transactional processing in an SAP environment. This is a team management and client contact role responsible for:

  • overseeing the management of the Payroll Team to meet daily and weekly goals
  • undertaking complex tasks and provide advice on resolution of complex issues
  • ensuring quality outcomes and service excellence
  • promoting achievement of continuous improvement and
  • adherence to a relevant policies, procedures, and frameworks.


An APS Level 4 employee in the Payroll Team is required to undertake tasks of moderate complexity and work under minimal direction. You are expected to work in a small team responsible for providing payroll services to a large client base. You are accountable for meeting daily and weekly goals and are expected to organise your own workload and make decisions within defined parameters. As this role involves a high level of client contact you will be required to communicate with and provide information to a range of external stakeholders.
