The Merit Protection Commissioner is seeking an EL2 – Legal Counsel.
The Merit Protection Commissioner (MPC) is an independent statutory office established under the Public Service Act 1999. The MPC has two office locations – Sydney and Canberra – both within the offices of the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC). Staff of the MPC are provided by the APSC and are employees of the APSC. MPC staff conduct independent statutory functions for and on behalf of the MPC.
The ideal candidate will have least 10 year’s post-admission experience in the provision of legal advice in administrative law or employment law with a strong statutory interpretation focus. You will also have experience with Freedom of Information, Privacy or Public Interest Disclosure obligations of Commonwealth entities (or similar jurisdictions) and have an in depth knowledge of misconduct processes in the Australian Public Service (or similar jurisdictions).
