Commercial Manager

The Museum has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic professional to join the Commercial and Enterprise team in the role of Commercial Manager. Along with the Business Head, you will be responsible for setting, shaping, and driving the strategy and direction for the Museum’s commercial activities.  

You will be expected to develop, oversee, and implement forward plans, budgets, contracts, and strategy documents for the Museum’s Commercial and Tourism interests along with developing strategies and ideas to sustain the Museum’s financial future. The candidate will be responsible for reporting on outcomes across the unit and have an overall focus on growing spend per visitor.  

The Commercial Manager acts as a second in charge to the Business Head Commercial and Enterprise for day-to-day management of the section, working in collaboration with Museum and external stakeholders in relation to the coordination of activities associated with the Museum’s commercial activities including but not limited to: 

  • Retail operations (main shop, online, wholesale, publishing distribution and exhibition shops) 
  • Destination tourism and collaborative cultural partnerships 
  • Café and catering services license 
  • Venue management (bookings for commercial / non-commercial events, education booking system) 
  • Venue hires and commercial events 

 

You will work cooperatively with the other members of the business unit and the broader Museum to plan and effectively manage the overall commercial program. The position will involve developing and contributing to relationships with a diverse range of key stakeholders.  

The incumbent will bring an innovative and creative approach to building commercial enterprise within a museum environment.
