leave entitlement for blood donation

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) is updating their guidance for staff regarding the amount of time off allowed (without using leave credits) for Blood Donation and are looking for information on how this is practically applied by other agencies – ie. Is there a cap on how many hours per year staff can use for the purpose of blood donation or how else agencies might support time off work for the purpose of Blood Donation?

Please reply to Fiona Kelly at the AIHW:  fiona.kelly@aihw.gov.au or 02 6249 5007

lsl entitlement – leave not to count as service

Hi All,

Hope you are doing well.

We would like to understand, how is leave not to count as service is treated in your agencies/departments regarding employee’s LSL entitlements.

Such leaves defer the LSL accrual date however as I understand, each agency can decide for themselves after how many calendar days should such leaves defer the LSL accrual date.

Ex: Some agencies may consider 30 calendar days in a calendar year before leave not to count as service affects the service for LSL. Or some agencies may defer LSL accrual by any leave not to count as service.

Looking forward to your response.

Have a great Easter break.

Many thanks

on-call entitlements

I am seeking information from agencies who have had any experience with certain teams having to essentially be on-call outside of normal working hours. Our comms and media team are wanting to set up a roster, and are curious about what their entitlements are, and whether perhaps it falls under a restriction allowance. Basically, they want someone to monitor the mailbox outside of Monday – Friday after 6pm and action urgent media requests.

I would be grateful if your agency has had a similar circumstance, would you please contact me to discuss the circumstances, or, send me any relevant information that may assist us in putting something together.

Thank you

maternity/paternity/parental leave payments

Austrade are looking to understand other Commonwealth agency’s Maternity/Paternity/Parental Leave policies and what supports and payments are available to parents other than the generic female/male = mother is primary caregiver.

We are curious to know if other agencies have policy which enable families to choose which parent will be the primary care giver and receive the paid (maternity) leave (18 weeks). Please respond to ebony.morgan@austrade.gov.au
